What is the Super Bowl Over/Under?

The Over/Under is a popular betting market set by all of our best sports betting sites which asks whether the final score of Chiefs vs. Eagles will be Over or Under a preset betting line. The Over/Under for Super Bowl 59 is commonly set at 48.5 points.

If the final score combines for 49 or more points, the Over will be graded as the winning bet. If the final score is 48 or fewer points, then the Under will be graded as the winner.

Eagles 24 - Chiefs 20

I wrote briefly about why I think the Eagles will win this game last week in my Chiefs vs. Eagles prediction, and my stance hasn’t changed. 

The Eagles hold enough of an edge defensively to contain Patrick Mahomes and Co. That will keep the Chiefs out of the end zone, making them turn to Harrison Butker for a couple of field goals.

The total is set at 49 through some of our best sportsbooks, and I like the Under here. This game could wind up being 27-20, but Eagles kicker Jake Elliott will no doubt miss a gimme field goal.

Eagles 21 - Chiefs 20

Best odds: +20000 via Caesars | Implied probability: 0.50%

This pick is more about eyeing an Under play on the total. There are still some 49 offerings out there on the total, but a good handful of our best Super Bowl betting sites have now moved to 48.5, and that’s after most opened at 49.5.

That slow yet continuing downward movement indicates that while the game won’t exactly be a slugfest, it may not be as high-scoring as initially perceived. And finding even the tiniest of edges will lead to significant gains in a contest sure to be tight. On that front, the Eagles’ ball-hawking secondary and menacing pass rush give them a slight advantage.

Chiefs 31 - Eagles 25

Best odds: +41000 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 0.24%

Is this a wacky scoreline? Absolutely, so much so that some of our best sports betting apps don’t offer the option to bet this correct score. It isn’t unprecedented, though.

Six games in NFL history have finished 31-25, including Super Bowl 45. Five have come in the last 15 years, with the first instance involving the Eagles in 1952. As I detailed in my New Orleans Super Bowl history piece, The Big Easy has hosted seven indoor Super Bowls, and each one has finished with a final score of 37, 56, or 65. 

I like the Over in this contest, but it’ll be a one-score game. I’m taking a flier on 56 points - the total from Super Bowls 20 and 31 - at a score of 31-25. This play is trading at an absurd +41000 through FanDuel, which means a $10 winning wager would net $4,100.

Chiefs 27 - Eagles 24

Best odds: +5000 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 1.96%

A couple of factors went into this prediction. First, as the latest 2025 Super Bowl odds indicate, the total is set at 49 points in some spots.

I love the Over in this scenario, and I’m backing Kansas City to win and improve its dynasty ranking among the best teams. 

I’m confident it will be a close encounter with little separating the combatants, which helped me hone in on the 27-24 final score prediction.
