NFL Rookie of the Year Odds Ahead of NFL Draft: Jeanty, Carter Open as Favorites
The 2025 NFL Draft is the next - and last - major event that'll shape the landscape of the upcoming NFL season. As the nation's top prospects wait to be called to the stage tonight for the beginning of their respective careers, NFL Rookie of the Year odds are already available to bettors, courtesy of BetRivers.
It'll surprise absolutely no one to see Ashton Jeanty (+250), Cameron Ward (+400), Travis Hunter (+700), and Shedeur Sanders (+800) open as the betting favorites by the 2025 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds.
Meanwhile, the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year odds opened with Abdul Carter (+400), Mason Graham (+600), and Jalon Walker (+600) as the betting favorites - all three collegiate stars with elite upside at the next level.
Hunter, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and two-way star out of Colorado, also holds +1000 odds to be the Defensive Rookie of the Year.

- Shedeur Sanders: Sanders opened as the consensus betting favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, but he was passed by Ward as the consensus top QB and is questionable to go in the top 10 tonight

- Abdul Carter: Carter recorded 12 sacks last season with Penn State and is the undisputed top EDGE rusher in this year's draft; he seems likely to fall to the New York Giants with the Cleveland Browns seemingly set on Hunter
- Mason Graham: Graham is considered by some to be a top-three talent in the draft, but positional needs - especially on the offensive line - could drop him down the board; that shouldn't impact his Defensive Rookie of the Year odds, and it'll even give him a boost if he lands on a better team with a later pick
- Last year's Defensive Rookie of the Year (Jared Verse) opened with the third-shortest odds to win the award, so there is betting value in this market
🦄 Travis Hunter's Rookie of the Year odds
Offensive Rookie of the Year: +700 ($10 pays $70) | Defensive Rookie of the Year: +1000 ($10 pays $100)
Hunter cruised to the Heisman Trophy in his final year under the tutelage of Deion Sanders at Colorado while playing nearly every snap on both sides of the ball. However, it's long seemed unlikely he'd get that kind of usage in the NFL, and questions over which position he'll primarily play seem to have lengthened his NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds.
Ahead of the draft and training camps, and before his true professional position is known, the +1000 odds for Defensive Rookie of the Year seem to be the better bargain with a winning $10 bet paying $100 in profit.
It wouldn't hurt to hold off on betting on the draft's unicorn for either Rookie of the Year award, especially as he's most likely to be selected by the lowly Browns or Giants. Splitting his time between two positions would ultimately hurt his candidacy for both.
It wouldn't be surprising to see Hunter open among the mid-tier NFL MVP odds contenders, either, given his popularity and unique skillset.
