The NFL's brightest stars will battle it out in the Pro Bowl flag football game.

For the third consecutive year, the AFC and NFC will compete in a flag football game on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET (ESPN/ABC) at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

Unsurprisingly, this game is listed as a pick‘em. So, who has the advantage in our Pro Bowl prediction?

With this listed as a toss-up and not much information as our disposal, how am I making my prediction?

For me, it comes down to the offense. Joe Burrow has the edge over the three NFC quarterbacks. However, if all quarterbacks see playing time, then the clear advantage goes to the NFC with the trio of Jared Goff, Baker Mayfield, and Sam Darnold.

And when it comes to running backs, you can’t tell me there are pair of running backs better suited for flag football than Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson.

At the end of the day, this is a coin flip.

However, if you believe that the best of the best were originally picked for these teams, then it’s worth noting that only 11 NFC players were replaced compared to 16 AFC players. When you’re looking for any type of edge, that type of stat could be the difference maker.

Pro Bowl flag football rules

This is just the third year of the Pro Bowl flag football game, so don’t be too worried if you’re not familiar with all the rules yet. Here is all the important information to know:

  • Each team will have seven players on the field
  • The field is 50 yards instead of 100
  • Four 12-minute quarters with a two-minute warning at the end of each half
  • Teams can achieve a first down only by reaching midfield on their drive. They have four downs to do so
  • After reaching midfield, teams have four downs to score a touchdown
  • Touchdowns are still worth six points, but kickers will not attempt extra points. Instead, teams can “go for 1” from the 5-yard line or “go for 2” from the 10

Watching the best players in the world play flag football is a new concept, but it’s one that’s likely to gain popularity in the coming years.

The 2028 Summer Olympics will introduce flag football for both men and women. So not only could Sunday’s game benefit you now, but getting a feel for the game could end up paying dividends in the future.
