Saquon Barkley took the lead in the NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds for the first time all year last week. Now it doesn't look like he'll let it go.

The Philadelphia Eagles star turned in a historic performance on Sunday Night Football while rushing for a franchise-record 255 yards, the ninth-most ever in an NFL game. He seized control of the OPOY odds across our best sportsbooks.

He's dealing as a clear favorite ahead of Derrick Henry, who put forth a quality effort with his 140 rushing yards during the Baltimore Ravens' win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football.

NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds favorites 2024-25

Saquon Barkley (-300)

This race has been trending toward Barkley for a while, as the two-time Pro Bowler had rushed for 100-plus yards in four of his last five games entering Week 12.

Then he ran roughshod over the Los Angeles Rams in one of the best performances in NFL history. Barkley became the first player to rip off two 70-plus-yard touchdown runs in the second half of a game to cement his status as the favorite.

He now leads the NFL in rushing yards per game (126.5) and per carry (6.2), both of which are career highs, and he's a legitimate NFL MVP odds candidate.

These -300 odds at BetMGM suggest he holds a 75% chance of winning this honor as the favorite, and a $10 bet would return a $3.33 profit. At this point, that still might be worth it.

Derrick Henry (+350)

Henry was in the pole position not long ago while looking like he'd zoom out to an insurmountable lead. That was before the Ravens stopped using him like a workhorse.

While he's fallen below the century mark in rushing during three of the last five weeks, Henry is still one of the best running backs on the planet. Henry could make a case for himself again if he can continue to produce and keep scoring touchdowns for one of the NFL's best offenses, but probably only if Barkley slips.

That's why FanDuel is offering +350 odds on Henry to win this award for the second time in his career, which would turn a $10 bet into a $35 profit if he does.

My NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds player to watch

Ja'Marr Chase (+1000)

At this rate, it'll probably take both Barkley and Henry falling off a cliff for anyone else to win this award. If someone does, my bet is that it would be a receiver.

Nobody is better equipped to take advantage of that potential opportunity than Chase, who leads the NFL in receiving yards (1,056) and touchdowns (12) while ranking third in receptions (73).

If the Cincinnati Bengals manage to make the playoffs - which remains a long shot - then Chase deserves plenty of the credit. Could that be enough to help him cash at these +1000 odds through FanDuel? Probably not, but I can't fault anyone for taking a flier.

How to read NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds

Reading NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds is straightforward. Odds are usually presented in a format like +500 or -200. Positive odds (e.g., +500) show how much profit you’d make on a $100 bet.

For example, a $100 bet at +500 odds would win you $500, plus your original $100 stake, totaling $600. Negative odds (e.g., -200) indicate how much you need to bet to win $100. So, a $200 bet at -200 odds would win you $100, plus your $200 stake, totaling $300.

These odds also reflect the probability of a player winning the Offensive Player of the Year. Lower odds (e.g., +300) suggest a higher likelihood, while higher odds (e.g., +2000) indicate a lower probability. Sportsbooks adjust these odds based on performance, injuries, and betting patterns.

If Tyreek Hill gets +500 odds and Christian McCaffrey gets +1000, Hill is considered more likely to win. If you bet $100 on Hill and he wins, you’d get $600 back ($500 profit + $100 stake). Understanding these odds helps you make informed betting decisions and assess potential returns.
