T.J. Watt is sprinting far away from the field in the Defensive Player of the Year odds throughout our best NFL betting sites. Short of some heavenly intervention, he's steaming his way toward earning the honor for a second time.

His Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a setback while losing to the Cleveland Browns during a snow globe game on Thursday Night Football. However, Watt still made a notable contribution while notching four tackles, including one for a loss.

Elsewhere, Chris Jones tumbled down the oddsboard while moving from +1100 to about +2000 after not registering a tackle during the Kansas City Chiefs' win last week over the Carolina Panthers. And Myles Garrett rose up after his absurd performance on Thursday with three sacks and three tackles for a loss.

Here's how the rest of the DPOY odds break down at our NFL prop betting sites.

Defensive Player of the Year odds recent takeaways:

  • While he's still the favorite, T.J. Watt is now dealing at plus-money at FanDuel to win this award
  • There's a canyon between Watt at the rest, with Will Anderson serving as one of five other defenders dealing at shorter than +2000 odds
  • Among the tumbling players is also Nick Bosa, who sat out the 49ers' 38-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers last week, and he's now gone from +1300 to +5000

NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds favorite 2024-25

T.J. Watt (+105)

Watt keep chugging along and making life miserable for anyone in the opposing backfield this past week. Unfortunately, his efforts weren't enough to seal a victory for the Steelers, which likely played a role in his price dropping a little.

He's produced at least one tackle for a loss in all but three of his games this season. Watt has fallen in the sack standings after registering only one in his last three games, but he still sits just outside the top 10. The veteran is also tied for fourth in tackles for a loss.

Watt is the faraway front-runner while receiving a sky-high implied probability of 48.78%, with a $10 bet on him now leading to $10.50 in profit.

My NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds player to watch

Myles Garrett (+1500)

At this point it feels like it would take a Herculean feat to unseat Watt. But with that in mind if you're looking for a long shot in this market, why not sprinkle a few bucks on the NFL's Hercules himself?

Beyond Watt's dominance, the most significant hurdle Garrett faced this season was voter fatigue after he was named the Defensive Player of the Year last campaign. But Garrett continues to show that he can be a one-man force on a team that's otherwise unimpressive.

Stunningly, he's now logged three sacks during two of the pass-rusher's last three games, with each of those contests also featuring three tackles for a loss. He's also registered four games with four-plus tackles over his last six outings.

Pushing aside Watt feels like an almost impossibly difficult task. But getting the defending winner at +1500 is a fine place to put your long-shot hopes.

A $10 bet at BetRivers would lead to a $150 profit.

How to read NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds

Reading NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds is straightforward. Odds are usually presented in a format like +500 or -200. Positive odds (e.g., +500) show how much profit you’d make on a $100 bet.

For example, a $100 bet at +500 odds would win you $500, plus your original $100 stake, totaling $600. Negative odds (e.g., -200) indicate how much you need to bet to win $100. So, a $200 bet at -200 odds would win you $100, plus your $200 stake, totaling $300.

These odds also reflect the probability of a player winning the Defensive Player of the Year. Lower odds (e.g., +300) suggest a higher likelihood, while higher odds (e.g., +2000) indicate a lower probability. Sportsbooks adjust these odds based on performance, injuries, and betting patterns.

If Micah Parsons gets +500 odds and T.J. Watt gets +1000, Parsons is considered more likely to win. If you bet $100 on Hill and he wins, you’d get $600 back ($500 profit + $100 stake). Understanding these odds helps you make informed betting decisions and assess potential returns.
