The speed with which Pitino has turned St. John's into a Big East contender again can't be understated. He's on the verge of leading his sixth different program to the NCAA Tournament. St. John's is one of the feistiest teams in the country with a defense that's fourth in adjusted efficiency, according to KenPom.
The Red Storm provide a tough matchup for a UConn team that doesn't look poised to three-peat under Dan Hurley. The Huskies have been living and dying by their offense this season. But as a squad that relies heavily on its shooting efficiency, UConn could struggle against a St. John's defense that's allowing the lowest field-goal percentage in Big East play (38.2%).
As for UConn's defense, it's been sporadic this year and ranks 118th in adjusted efficiency while giving up 72.3 points per game to Big East opponents. While St. John's plays with a defense-first mentality, it still boasts the offensive talent to push the Huskies' defense. The Red Storm are sixth in the country in 2-pointers per game (23.7).
With RJ Luis, Zuby Ejiofor, and Kadary Richmond leading St. John's, the school should be capable of covering for the seventh time in nine games against a UConn team that's 2-6 against the spread since Jan. 5. If the Red Storm cover, a $10 bet pays a profit of $9.09.

Kadary Richmond Over 20.5 points, rebounds, and assists ⭐⭐⭐⭐
It's crazy that Richmond isn't among the Wooden Award odds contenders this season. He's the catalyst for the St. John's turnaround, and the guard has been pushing the program to first in the Big East.
It's a beautiful thing to see a New York point guard playing for Pitino at St. John's, and it's even more glorious to watch him impact the game in every way. Not only is he among the best defenders in the conference, but Richmond is the only player in the Big East averaging 12-plus points per game, five-plus rebounds, and four-plus assists.
He's topped 20.5 points, rebounds, and assists 12 times this year, and Richmond has been playing his best basketball lately. He's gone Over 20.5 PRAs in four of his last five outings while averaging 17.2 PPG, 7.4 RPG, and 5.6 APG (30.2).
