Based on the latest betting data from BetMGM, it's clear the public is lining up to bet the Gators, who were the hottest team entering the 2025 NCAA Tournament and have impressed en route to the Final Four behind star scorer Walter Clayton Jr. (more on him later).
Yet the overall betting handle is nearly split even with more than 60% of the spread bets on favored Florida. That suggests there could be some sharp action on underdog Houston, which was counted out against Duke before pulling off one of the craziest comebacks in March Madness history.
These teams are much closer in the moneyline market, where Florida (-115) had seen 47% of bets and 45% of handle compared to Houston (-105) drawing 53% of total wagers and 55% of the overall money wagered as of this morning.
🤔 Florida vs. Houston betting splits: Sharps backing Under tonight?
You can't always tell when sharps are targeting one side of a particular market, but when the total tickets and betting handle don't add up, there's usually something there. So the early betting data from this morning caught my eye when looking at the total tonight:

As of earlier today, more than half of NCAA Championship O/U bets were on the Over for a total that opened at 140.5 and briefly moved up by a point to 141.5 this afternoon.
Yet a whopping 61% of the actual money wagered had come in on the Under - no doubt related to the higher percentage of money backing Houston and its top-ranked defense relative to the overall ticket count on Florida and its high-flying offense.
Since that early data report this morning, we've actually seen even more bets on the Over, which has now seen 70% of all tickets written to that side. Even so, the total dropped from 141.5 to 140.5 in the hours before the national championship. If you're looking to tail the sharps tonight, you might want to consider an Under bet before tipoff.
