It looked like we were headed toward a Duke vs. Florida final, but Houston wouldn't be denied as it clawed its way back in the Final Four and ousted the tournament favorite.
That thrust Florida into a surprise role as the betting favorite entering Monday's title game against the Cougars after those two beat the top two overall seeds in March Madness. The Gators opened as 1-point favorites at Caesars, though Houston opened as the favorite at DraftKings before immediate action flipped that line in Florida's favor.
The total opened at 142, which is clearly shaded low to account for Houston's elite defense and a top-10 unit for the Gators, too. Expect to see that number creep up closer to tipoff if the spread bets keep coming in on Florida.

Florida was the hottest team in the country coming into the NCAA Tournament after surviving the gauntlet in the SEC Tournament to win the toughest conference tourney in the country. Yet the Gators have fallen behind in the second half in each of the last two games - only to force their way back to reach their first national championship since 2007.
Seemingly no deficit is too much for star scorer Walter Clayton Jr., who dropped 30 and 34 points in his last two games to spark late comebacks and carry this team to the title game. Now Florida's torrid offense will face its toughest test of the season against Houston's top-ranked defense, which did just enough to withstand Cooper Flagg and Co.
With Clayton playing like one of the best players in March Madness, Florida will be a tough out in the title game, though it'll need its defense to show up earlier to avoid facing another late deficit in the NCAA Tournament final.
🐆 Underdog: Houston Cougars (-105 via bet365)
For nearly the entirety of its Final Four matchup with Duke, Houston looked like its season was coming to a close after carrying a nation-best 17-game win streak into Saturday.
Then the Cougars' top-ranked defense came alive down the stretch, shutting down the Blue Devils' No. 1 offense and making enough timely plays down the stretch to grind out a win in prototypical Houston fashion. There's a reason why this team won 34 games and gutted its way past two top-15 teams by KenPom entering the Final Four.
The Cougars will need to make more shots - and sooner - than they did on Saturday to keep pace with Clayton and Co. on Monday. Or maybe Kelvin Sampson's group can suffocate another one of the nation's best offenses and win its first title in school history.
