ESPN probably regrets making a late substitution to broadcast Saturday’s Indiana Pacers vs. Los Angeles Lakers matchup at 4 p.m. ET from Crypto.com Arena.

Luka Doncic won't be making his debut until Monday, and LeBron James has been upgraded to doubtful, leaving the game with little star power.

Best Pacers vs. Lakers prop predictions

Mark Williams prop pick: Under 3.5 assists ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

While Doncic won’t debut on Saturday, center Mark Williams could get his first action with the Lakers since being traded by the Charlotte Hornets.

Williams is a polarizing player. He has the intangibles between his length and strength, dominating the glass and being a true lob threat. However, the 23-year-old big man has defensive limitations, which must be improved if the Lakers hope he can replace Anthony Davis as the center of their future.

Williams will eventually start, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Lakers are careful with him in his transition. Either way, this assist line is ridiculously high for a player who doesn’t facilitate much. Williams averages 2.5 assists per game. 

This is my favorite way of betting against Williams’ minutes on Saturday.

Bennedict Mathurin prop pick: Over 13.5 points  ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Lakers’ defensive concerns have been overblown since the Doncic trade. They will now have one of the best offensive teams in the league, and they have actually been No. 2 in defensive rating since Jan. 21. JJ Redick has done miracles in his first year as head coach.

Still, Indiana’s Mathurin is the type of player the Lakers will struggle to stop without a point-of-attack defender. Mathurin dropped 25 against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday, and I project him to finish with at least 15 on Saturday.

Dorian Finney-Smith prop pick: Under 11.5 points ⭐⭐⭐

Finney-Smith will likely stay in the starting lineup if James doesn’t play, but I’m not sure his offensive production will improve without one of the best passers in league history. DFS hits timely spot-ups but doesn’t do as much creating for himself.

Finney-Smith has only cleared this scoring prop thrice in his 15 games since being traded to Los Angeles. He’s averaging 5.2 field goal attempts and 6.9 points per contest with the Lakers. This line is too high at our best sports betting apps, as I project DFS to finish with nine points.
