In a move that shook the NBA to its core, Anthony Davis was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday for Luka Doncic. Davis (who had missed time with the Los Angeles Lakers before the deal) looked to be on track to return tonight's contest, but it appears he’ll be sidelined until Saturday.

Our Mavericks vs. Celtics predictions and player props expect Daniel Gafford to crash the glass as Dallas’ true big man down low until Davis debuts.

We also expect Derrick White to stay hot on offense and Kyrie Irving to get teammates involved when the Mavericks and Celtics tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET from TD Garden in Boston.

Daniel Gafford prop pick: Over 9.5 rebounds ⭐⭐⭐

We’ll have to wait for our first glimpse of the new-look Mavs, as Anthony Davis will remain on the sidelines for at least one more game. With Dereck Lively II still on the shelf and Maxi Kleber gone, Gafford will be leaned on heavily at center.

Gafford has started each of the Mavericks’ last 10 games, averaging 10.1 rebounds in that span. Big Danny G pulled down double-digit boards in six of those 10.

Gafford has recorded 10 or more rebounds only eight times this season, but he’s been on a roll, with three-quarters of those games coming over the last three weeks. The big man has averaged more rebounds on the road (six of eight) than at home this season.

Irving will have difficulty finding breathing room against a solid Boston perimeter defense, and we expect him to look for open teammates tonight actively. Despite averaging nearly 20 field goal attempts across his last eight, Irving has averaged 4.9 assists and hit the Over on this line four times.

Kyrie has hit the Over on this one in 24 of 40 games overall, including 11 of 19 at home. Irving dished five in his first meeting with Boston this season and averaged five dimes against the Mavs in last year’s Finals.
