Prior to his injury, Wembanyama was the NBA Defensive Player of the Year odds favorite by a mile. The second-year franchise cornerstone had been a shot-blocking machine with a league-leading 3.8 per game, and he was holding together what's been an otherwise pedestrian San Antonio defense.
Without Wemby protecting the rim, Durant is set to have an impressive game. The 15-time All-Star is averaging 30 PPG in four outings this month, and that includes popping off for 37 prior to the All-Star break against a Houston Rockets team that's No. 4 in defensive rating (109.7).
Given how flashy Durant's scoring has been as of late, and with the Spurs down their defensive anchor and dealing with the emotions of losing him for the season, I think the Suns' superstar is going to put on a show tonight.

San Antonio was already having trouble rebounding with opponents averaging the fourth-most rebounds per game against Gregg Popovich and Mitch Johnson's team this season (46.1). They've had particular trouble slowing down forwards like Durant, with small forwards averaging the most rebounds per game in the NBA against the Spurs (8.66) and power forwards pulling down the third-most (11.3).
It doesn't matter whether Mike Budenholzer deploys the 36-year-old at the three or the four; he should be well positioned to use those go-go gadget arms to rip down rebounds.

For as impressive as Durant was in his 37-point game against the Rockets, he was also a turnover machine. The Texas product gave the ball away seven times and had Over 2.5 turnovers for the third time in four games.
A big part of that is due to his usage. Durant has played over 40 MPG in his last three outings and has taken 18-plus shots in all three. So while that's a big reason why I expect him to score a load of points, I think the Over on his turnovers will go hand-in-hand with Over on his points.
Durant has the 10th-highest usage rate in the NBA of players who have played 40-plus games (29.3%) and he's averaging 3.1 turnovers per game. Already with 24 games of three-plus turnovers this season, look for another one from the former MVP.
