The start of the Australian Open is nearly upon us as the 2025 event will begin Sunday, Jan. 12. Australian Open odds are now available to bet on. Jannik Sinner (+190) and Carlos Alcaraz (+230) are the two betting favorites for the men's side. Aryna Sabalenka (+240) and Iga Swiatek (+390) sit atop women's Australian Open odds boards.

Men's Australian Open favorite

Novak Djokovic (+200)

The 10-time Australian Open champion (yes, I did say 10) will be highly motivated to win his 11th after exiting the US Open in the third round and losing in the 2024 semifinal Down Under.

The 2024 season marked the first time Djokovic had not won a major since 2017, again adding fuel to his inner-burning fire.

Djokovic should be well-rested, too, a troubling prospect for the rest of the field. This could be one of his last chances to win his favorite event, so don't be surprised if he increases his gap atop the Grand Slam wins' list.

His odds, however, are really short. I'm talking Danny DeVito short.

Then again, I don't see them lengthening much—if at all—in the months leading up to the year's first major.

My 2025 Australian Open men's player to watch

 Alexander Zverev (+2000)

I've been bullish on Alexander Zverev for a few months, and I'll remain that way until he fades into the background. The combination of his hard-court skill set and betting value are his biggest draws.

Zverev made it to the quarterfinals in New York, losing for the second straight time at a major to Taylor Fritz.

It feels as if Zverev is doing his best Big Bad Wolf impression, consistently knocking on the door but having trouble gaining admission. He's advanced to at least the quarterfinals in five of his previous seven Grand Slams, falling at quarterfinals and semifinals stage at his last two Australian Opens.

The 2025 edition could finally be the tournament he gets everything right. His +2000 odds at DraftKings are an outlier, and they won't last long at that alluring price.

He's trading as short as +1000 at BetMGM, so snatch the DraftKings price while you still can.

Women's Australian Open favorite

Aryna Sabalenka (+250)

Sabalenka is the most dominant force in women's tennis in the lead-up to the Australian Open.

The Belarusian is the reigning Australian Open champion, winning Down Under the last two years. She's also advanced to at least the semifinal in seven of the last eight Grand Slams.

Oh, and she also won the US Open, beating Jessica Pegula in straight sets.

The Australian Open is her favorite event as it perfectly suits her wildly powerful skill set. Not only is she playing super tennis, but she's growing in maturity and confidence with every tournament.

As long as she avoids the treatment table in the coming months, Sabalenka is the competitor to beat on the women's side.

She was my pick at the US Open, and I'll be backing her to win again Down Under.

My 2025 Australian Open women's player to watch

Jessica Pegula (+2200)

The US Open finalist is on a tear, and I can't see her slowing down anytime soon. Pegula finished the 2024 season with a bang, winning the Canadian Open and then losing to Sabalenka in consecutive finals (Cincinnati Open and the US Open).

Her sensational form and supreme confidence make her +2200 odds at bet365 even more appealing.

Grab these odds as quickly as possible because they will almost certainly shorten in the coming weeks.
