The men's Royal Rumble will have a new champion for the first time since 2022 – and the list of viable contenders is as long as it has ever been.

One of the biggest events on the WWE calendar is almost here – and our Royal Rumble predictions and picks offer a nice variety of chalk plays and value bets.

The 2025 Royal Rumble takes place Saturday at 8 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and will be featured exclusively on Netflix in Canada and the U.S.

Who will win the Royal Rumble?

Randy Orton to win the men's Royal Rumble (+800) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Orton being in the title picture is like a comfy old pair of slippers. It just feels right. His combination of elite grappling prowess and magnetic personality makes him an evergreen contender choice for either of the major WWE men's singles titles.

Granted, there are a lot of superstars worthy of a shot at a championship at Wrestlemania 41 in Las Vegas. And Orton, for all his gifts, is probably at the low end on the main card pecking order. But handing him a Rumble win and matching him up against Cody Rhodes would allow WWE to spread out its higher-end talent across the two-night Mania card while still creating a compelling storyline between two second-generation mega-stars.

And Orton coming from +800 to cash as the last men's Rumble contestant standing is such a Viper thing to do, don't you think?

Charlotte Flair to win the women's Royal Rumble (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

You might not like the payout, but let's not get cute here.

The WWE loves using the Rumble as a vehicle for returning stars; any YouTube search of "Best Royal Rumble Returns" should be evidence enough. And Flair is one of the biggest main event draws in the company, whether you like her or you don't. Her Rumble return is the worst-kept secret in wrestling, and she's not coming back from a 13-month absence to get thrown over the top rope after eight minutes.

Look for WWE to give Flair the John Cena treatment circa 2008; Cena returned from a torn pectoral muscle that year to not only shock the Madison Square Garden crowd as the surprise No. 30 entrant but also win the Rumble and headline Wrestlemania. I anticipate a similarly short stint for Flair, along with the Rumble win.

WWE Royal Rumble best picks

Roman Reigns to eliminate CM Punk (+200) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of these guys is throwing the other over the top rope Saturday night – and since this option is priced slightly better than Punk eliminating Reigns (+100), I'm rolling with it.

These two have long unfinished business dating back to Punk's reluctant decision to join the O.G. Bloodline for their Survivor Series: WarGames encounter with the New Bloodline. Reigns famously blocking Punk from leaving their shared cage so Sami Zayn could head to the ring first (and Punk returning the favor on Reigns a few minutes later) was quite possibly the most tense moment of the card.

With Reigns and the New Bloodline winding down their business, at least for now, it's time for WWE to find a new spicy program for the Tribal Chief. And with Punk still owed a favor from former manager (and current Reigns wise man) Paul Heyman, this feud should escalate in Indianapolis. I'm banking on it.

Entry number of men's Royal Rumble winner: Under 17.5 (+140) ⭐⭐⭐

Trying to disseminate this one is going to lead you nowhere good.

The Under on this line has cashed in five of the past eight men's Royal Rumbles following a stretch where eight straight winners came from slots 19 or later. The WWE has favored longevity over late-match star power in recent years, but past results have proven to be hilariously non-predictive.

I'm going with the superior value play here: Give me 56.7% of the field at plus money, and I'll take it. But I don't feel great about it, which is why this is a three-star pick.
