If you spent time during the winter on social media and saw anything related to baseball, you likely know that almost everyone is tired of the Los Angeles Dodgers, except for their fans.
However, there are another group of people who will be cheering for the Dodgers this season: bettors who are backing them to win the World Series.
As you'd expect, following a handful of big offseason moves and the return of MV3 - Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman - the latest Dodgers World Series odds feature them as the overwhelming favorites.
So with spring training about to get underway, we ask if Los Angeles can go back-to-back, or are these short odds a trap?

If you place this bet at DraftKings, you're getting an additional $5 of pure profit on every $10 you wager vs. the second-best odds, available at BetMGM and bet365.
The odds at Caesars, which is featuring the shortest price among our best sports betting sites, are associated with an implied probability 5% greater than DraftKings' odds. However, even through those +300 odds, DraftKings is telling us the Dodgers are getting roughly a 25% implied probability of repeating.
Amazingly, the New York Yankees are getting just a 11.11% implied probability through their longest odds as the second-largest favorites. That paints the picture of just how dominant the Dodgers are expected to be this season.

I'm less concerned with where the Dodgers' World Series odds started and more worried about how far prices will move if Los Angeles gets off to a hot start this season. Nevertheless, let's compare the +300 price we can get now to the opening number.

The Dodgers' World Series odds have slightly shortened from an opening +400 price, but starting at that number is still incredible.
That was before the offseason moves that helped form perhaps the best rotation and bullpen leaguewide, and we know that those two pieces working in tandem is one of the easiest ways to win playoff baseball.
Los Angeles already steamrolled the competition in 2024. So is it possible the Dodgers will improve this season?
Will the Dodgers be even better in 2025?
Based on the MLB projected win totals odds, our best sports betting apps expect the Dodgers to be better during the regular season, at the very least. They're trading at 104.5 wins after recording 98 victories last year, and PECOTA - one of the leading projection models for MLB standings - is forecasting the Dodgers to finish with 103.4 victories.
However, will that translate to the postseason? What if I told you they could be even better during the playoffs than they're expected to be throughout the season.
Dodgers offseason additions & key players for 2025
The Dodgers made several massive offseason moves, and the most significant additions were to their pitching, a group that somewhat struggled with health and consistency last year.
Blake Snell (SP)
Of course, we start with two-time Cy Young winner Snell, who endured a bit of an inconsistent lone campaign with the San Francisco Giants before finishing very strong.
After playing for two NL West rivals (the Giants and San Diego Padres before that), Snell signed a massive five-year, $182-million deal with the Dodgers.
Outside of a rocky first season with the Padres in 2021, Snell has been an animal during his time in the National League. Overall, dating back to his 2018 AL Cy Young-winning campaign with the Tampa Bay Rays, Snell ranks seventh among starting pitchers with at least 600 innings in ERA, 10th in FIP, 11th in fWAR, and he owns the third-most strikeouts per nine innings.
Snell is expected to slot in right between last year's prize pitching acquisitions, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow, and another addition from this offseason following that trio of studs.
Roki Sasaki (SP)
Yep, that's right, the Dodgers' projected No. 4 starter Roki Sasaki (at least when the season starts, as he could be pushed down to being their fifth starter when Ohtani begins pitching again) is the massive MLB Rookie of the Year odds favorite in the NL.
Most teams would have killed to sign Sasaki as their ace, but in the end, he landed with the Dodgers.
With Yamamoto, Snell, Glasnow, Sasaki, and eventually Ohtani, the Dodgers will undoubtedly boast the best starting rotation in MLB. It's arguably the most talented rotation in baseball history, with the only weakness for any of these pitchers to this point in their respective careers being an inability to remain healthy.
But the Dodgers struggled to find any consistency at the back end of their bullpen, as they were still toying with the closer role even into the playoffs. Surely they haven't solved that problem, too, right? Right?
Elite closing options
The Dodgers didn't just add one elite closer. No, they added two in the form of Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates. Here's how they ranked among relievers last year:
- fWAR: Yates - eighth, Scott - 14th
- ERA: Yates - second, Scott - sixth
- FIP: Yates - 15th, Scott - 32nd
So the Dodgers just casually added two of the game's best relievers to join Blake Treinen (1.93 ERA in 2024), Michael Kopech (1.13 ERA with the Dodgers in 2024), Alex Vesia (1.76 ERA in 2024), and the returning Dustin May. The latter would serve as one of baseball's nastiest starters if there was a place for him in the team's rotation.
Pitching depth
Speaking of May's return, he's not the only Dodgers pitcher expected to come back from an injury and provide the team with depth this season.
Tony Gonsolin is also back after missing all of last season, Emmet Sheehan hopes to return by around June, Clayton Kershaw re-signed with the Dodgers and plans to "give it a go" this season, and reliever Evan Phillips should come back shortly after Opening Day.
Additionally, the Dodgers boast Bobby Miller in the minors, and the organization hopes he can put 2024 in the rearview and find the form that made him a dominant rookie two years ago.
The return of Ohtani, the pitcher
You'll notice I missed one name there when discussing which pitchers are set to return. That's because this isn't just an ordinary pitcher.
Of course, Ohtani will be on the mound again this year to resume being the baseball-crushing, strikeout-throwing machine he was with the Los Angeles Angels.
He easily took home NL MVP honors last year as just a DH, so Ohtani is unsurprisingly the huge favorite in the MLB MVP odds with spring training about to begin and the hype building on his comeback as a two-way player.
Gonsolin should be pushed out of the rotation once Ohtani returns, or the Dodgers could roll with six starters. Either decision will help keep every pitcher more rested for the playoffs.
My best bet & prediction for the Dodgers
What does all of this mean when the fall rolls around, though? Well, it means we're actually getting a great price right now on the Dodgers to win the World Series.
