As of Saturday night, the Padres are favored to beat the Braves in today's MLB matchup at 7 p.m. ET from Petco Park in San Diego. The Padres have only started 4-0 once in franchise history back in 1984. So, with history against them, I’m predicting the Braves will beat the Padres as +110 moneyline underdogs.

The season could not have started worse for the Braves, who are not only 0-3 but have just one base hit in 22 at-bats with runners in scoring position. The good news for Atlanta is it only has a -5 run differential through the three losses, so it should not take much to turn things around.

San Diego’s lineup is shorthanded, with Manny Machado expecting to miss the game after leaving with a calf injury yesterday. I also expect Atlanta to ruin Nick Pivetta’s first start in a Padres uniform, especially since the righty has finished each of his eight seasons with an ERA north of 4.00.

I predict Atlanta will beat San Diego by a final score of Braves 4, Padres 3.
