WM Phoenix Open Power Rankings: Favorites for Golf Picks & Pools

Scottie Scheffler leads the 132-man field as the prohibitive betting favorite, but we're looking past the odds with our WM Phoenix Open power rankings to help with your golf picks and pools this week at TPC Scottsdale. Tee times begin at 9:20 a.m. ET.
The WM Phoenix Open odds list Scheffler as a +280 betting favorite. That's a steep price to pay in this strong field. However, the two-time tournament champion could make for a fine pick in your golf pools as we rank this week's PGA Tour favorites.
The rankings below aim to complement my WM Phoenix Open picks to win.

WM Phoenix Open betting action
John Ewing of BetMGM reports that Scheffler (+275) is the most bet golfer to win the WM Phoenix Open at the sportsbook. Scheffler has drawn 31% of the betting handle as the favorite to win.
WM Phoenix Open picks for golf pools
1. Scottie Scheffler
Best odds: +280 via bet365
The two-time champion of the WM Phoenix Open returned from a hand injury last week to finish T-9 at Pebble Beach. He's the favorite for all four of 2025's majors and by the Players Championship odds as he'll seek a third consecutive win in that event.
2. Hideki Matsuyama
Best odds: +1600 via BetMGM
I find Matsuyama's outright odds to win among the most surprising on the board this week. He enters the WM Phoenix Open at No. 5 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and already has a record-setting win - in a Signature Event - this season. He's the other two-time winner of this event in the 2025 field.
3. Sungjae Im
Best odds: +2200 via BetMGM
Im has a third-place finish in The Sentry and a T-4 in the Farmers Insurance Open through four events to start 2025. He's playing this event for the third straight year - and sixth time ever - with a best showing of T-6 two years ago. He's one of the top values on the board at +2200 with a winning $10 bet returning a profit of $220.
4. Justin Thomas
Best odds: +1400 via bet365
The 31-year-old Thomas hasn't won since the 2022 PGA Championship, but he's been one of the most consistent golfers at TPC Scottsdale over his career. He's played here each of the last 10 years with four top-10 finishes in his past six trips, He's never finished worse than T-17 when making the cut in this event.
5. Sepp Straka
Best odds: +4500 via FanDuel
Straka has gotten off to a hotter start in 2025 than any other golfer on the planet. He's jumped from No. 36 to No. 16 in the OWGR through four events with a win and a T-7 finish last week. He only lacks course history, as he'll play TPC Scottsdale for the first time since 2022 when he finished 66th.
6. Tom Kim
Best odds: +3500 via FanDuel
Kim headlines my WM Phoenix Open picks to win, along with Matsuyama. He led Jupiter Links Golf Club to a win in TGL play last week and then tied for seventh at Pebble Beach. He's played this event twice with a top showing of T-17 last year.
7. Nick Taylor
Best odds: +6500 via FanDuel
Last year's champion of this event already has a win this season. He went on to finish T-12 in The American Express and T-33 last week at Pebble Beach. He's second in this field in strokes gained: approach across his last 10 measured rounds, but a relative lack of driving distance this season could hurt him here.
8. Robert MacIntyre
Best odds: +6000 via FanDuel
The Scotsman enters the week at No. 17 in the OWGR following a T-40 finish in last week's Signature Event. Lefty swingers haven't faired particularly well at the Stadium Course in recent years, including Bobby Mac's own missed cut in his TPC Scottsdale debut last year.
9. Sahith Theegala
Best odds: +4500 via BetMGM
Theegala's playing this event for the fourth straight year after finishing T-3, T-39, and fifth last year. He was my first click to win last week but struggled to a T-53 finish in the Signature Event. His putting and short game are well suited to this venue but his driver has been erratic and his approach shots aren't as sharp as usual.
10. Corey Conners
Best odds: +4500 via BetMGM
Conners has been a staple at TPC Scottsdale. He's played here each of the past five years with a best finish of T-17 in 2021. He's routinely among the tournament leaders in strokes gained: off-the-tee but struggles with his short game at this venue. He tied for fifth in The Sentry but missed the cut during the Sony Open and tied for 65th last week.
