Mountain West Championship Odds 2024: Boise State Favorite Ahead of UNLV, Colorado State
The Mountain West odds continue to be dominated by the team most likely to earn the Group of Five College Football Playoff bid.
Among the highlights:
- Led by Heisman Trophy odds favorite Ashton Jeanty, Boise State is as short as -400 to win the Mountain West
- Despite UNLV's loss to the Broncos earlier in the season, the Rebels remain the second-favorite in the conference (+400) and are still alive in the G5 College Football Playoff odds race
- Colorado State (+750) is the only other team capable of qualifying for the Mountain West Championship
- The Broncos and Rebels are the only non-AAC G5 program ranked in the AP Top 25
- With Boise State's win over UNLV, it has a clear path to the CFP after already playing college football championship odds favorite Oregon tough early in the season
While a Boise State vs. UNLV rematch has been expected all season at our college football betting sites, Colorado State has a chance to win out and get in over UNLV.

Mountain West Championship favorite
Boise State (-300)
Prior to the win over UNLV, Boise State had odds as long as -115 to win the Mountain West - that price was a steal. This Broncos team nearly upset Oregon, which is currently ranked No. 1, and is getting the shortest G5 odds to make the CFP.
Boasting a player like Jeanty in the Mountain West is an absolute cheat code. He's the best running back in the country, viewed as a first-round talent, and has a legitimate chance to win the Heisman.
Jeanty shredding defenses with his rare combo of contact balance, lateral explosion, and burst alone would be enough to compete for the MWC. But Spencer Danielson's team also features a loaded front seven on defense.
Don't expect the Broncos' price to lengthen the rest of the season. They have a clear shot at winning out. A $10 winning bet on Boise State pays just a $3.33 profit.

My Mountain West Championship team to watch
UNLV (+400)
After UNLV's starting QB opted to redshirt and leave the program after a 3-0 start because of an NIL dispute, the team stumbled into a better situation. The offense has thrived with Hajj-Malik Williams behind center.
While the Rebels came up short against Boise State, they were in it until the end, losing just 29-24. More impressively, the defense smothered Jeanty and showed it's capable of stopping him to some extent if the two programs meet again in the championship game.
While Jeanty is the best player in the conference, UNLV might trot out the second, third, and fourth-best players with Ricky White, Jackson Woodard, and Jalen Catalon.
However, UNLV needs Colorado State to lose a Mountain West game, otherwise the Rebels won't get a shot at playing Boise State again. Despite that, I'd still rather back UNLV because I just don't see anyway the Rams would upset the Broncos.
Barry Odom is one of the best G5 coaches in the country, and if any team can knock off Boise State, it's UNLV. If the Rebs win the MWC in a rematch with the Broncos, a $10 bet pays a $45 profit.

How to bet on the Mountain West Championship
When betting on Mountain West Championship odds, first, choose a reputable sportsbook that offers college football futures. Check out the odds for different teams; for example, if Boise State has +300 odds and UNLV has +600, a $100 bet on Boise State would win you $300 if they take the championship.
Decide how much you want to wager and place your bet. If you bet $100 on Boise State at +300 and they win, you’ll get $400 back ($300 profit + $100 stake). Keep an eye on team performances throughout the season to see how your bet is shaping up.
Remember, when betting in future markets, the odds will move. It’s mostly about performance and perception. If a team starts playing better or worse than expected, their odds will change. Injuries to key players can significantly impact a team's chances and thus their odds. Transfers and new player acquisitions can also affect a team's championship odds.
Public betting trends play a role too - if a lot of people are betting on one team, sportsbooks might adjust the odds to balance their risk.
Expert analysis and predictions can also influence how people bet, which in turn affects the odds.
How to read Mountain West Championship odds
Reading Mountain West Championship odds is straightforward. Odds are usually presented in a format like +300 or -150. Positive odds (i.e., +300) show how much profit you’d make on a $100 bet.
For example, a $100 bet at +300 odds would win you $300, plus your original $100 stake, totaling $400. Negative odds (i.e., -150) indicate how much you need to bet to win $100. So, a $150 bet at -150 odds would win you $100, plus your $150 stake, totaling $250.
These odds also reflect the implied probability of a team winning the championship. Lower odds (i.e., +200) suggest a higher probability of winning, while higher odds (i.e., +1000) indicate a lower probability. Sportsbooks adjust these odds based on factors like team performance, injuries, transfers, and betting patterns.
For example, if Fresno State has +300 odds and Colorado State has +600 odds, Fresno State is considered more likely to win. If you bet $100 on Fresno State and they win, you’d get $400 back ($300 profit + $100 stake). Understanding these odds helps you make informed betting decisions and assess potential returns.
