The Big 12 Championship odds have experienced more movement than any other Power 4 conference this season, and there are somehow nine teams still alive heading into the final week of the regular season.

While Arizona State (+135) is the favorite thanks to its win over BYU (+320) and Colorado's loss to Kansas, the Sun Devils still need to beat rival Arizona during the Duel in the Desert to qualify for the Big 12 Championship Game.

The Big 12 has been absolute chaos all season, and that's why it's so fitting that Arizona State is the the favorite to win the conference.

When Kenny Dillingham took over as head coach last campaign, it looked like it could take a decade for the program to recover after what Herm Edwards did while in charge. Instead, the former Oregon offensive coordinator has led the Sun Devils to upsets of Kansas State and BYU in back-to-back weeks.

That's a credit to the coaching staff developing players like Sam Leavitt, Cam Skattebo, Jordan Tyson, Clayton Smith, and Shamari Simmons. There's several future NFL players on this roster who are thriving, and it's leading to wins. 

Now Arizona State is as short as +135 to win the conference because it just needs to beat Arizona on Saturday and the school will be into the Big 12 Championship. While I do think they'll beat the Wildcats, I don't love how short this price is with the opponent likely to be either Iowa State or BYU.

The Sun Devils are just 48th in SP+ and have gotten lucky at times this season. They nearly blew the game against BYU last week and barely beat UCF, Kansas, and Texas State, and lost to Texas Tech.

The Sun Devils undoubtedly possess the ability to win this conference and reach the College Football Playoff. But these odds are a tough pill to swallow. If ASU beats Arizona and wins the Big 12 Championship Game, a $10 bet only pays a $14.50 profit.

My Big 12 Championship team to watch

BYU (+320)

There's a good chance Kalani Sitake will take home at least one coach of the year award this year. The BYU bench boss took a team that was projected to finish near the bottom of the conference and had gone undefeated through the first nine games before falling to the Jayhawks and Sun Devils.

Not only did the Cougars drub a Kansas State school 38-9 that was expected to win the Big 12, but BYU beat SMU in non-conference play during September. At that time nobody knew that the Mustangs would become a potential College Football Playoff odds team.

The Cougars came into the season with the longest odds in the conference to win the Big 12 (+12000). They've done nothing but overachieve behind a physical defense and a budding star at QB.

Jake Retzlaff has been one of the best stories in college football this season and looks like one of the top quarterbacks in the conference. He has BYU ranked 18th in SP+, and Retzlaff led a game-winning drive in the Holy War.

The losses to Kansas and Arizona State were a tough look. But BYU just needs Kansas State to beat Iowa State, and then the Cougars would get a rematch with the Sun Devils in the conference championship. And I'm taking the Wildcats to beat the Cyclones, which is why I'm backing the Cougars at +360 via DraftKings.

If BYU wins out and takes the conference title, not only will a $10 bet on the Cougars pay a $36 profit, but Sitake's team could earn a bye in the CFP.
