Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Reports Record iGaming Revenue for December

Some good news out of the Keystone State, which is home to many of our best sportsbooks and has a flourishing real-money online casino scene.

This figure also represents a year-on-year increase of 35.5%, with December’s revenue total increasing from the $165.1 million reported last December.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board splits PA online casino revenue into iSlots, iTables, and iPoker. Valley Forge Casino Resort closely followed this, reaching over $41.9 million in iSlots revenue for December 2024.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course generated $495,284 in iPoker revenue. Harrah’s Philadelphia reported $387,065 in revenue, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia reached $314,714 in revenue.
Which operators had the best month
Comparing individual operators to iGaming revenue reported in last December, all casino operators, bar three, had revenue increases.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse reported the highest December iGaming revenue for December 2024, with a 41.79% year-on-year increase from $60.9 million. Regardless, Golden Nugget Casino had the most significant year-on-year change, rising from $3.6 million in December 2023 to $8.1 million, an astonishing 125% revenue increase.
The second casino operator with the highest percentage change was Valley Forge Casino Resort, with a 48.4% year-on-year increase in revenue from $41.2 million to $61.2 million. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse closely followed this, reporting a 42% year-on-year increase in iGaming revenue. Then, Bally’s Pennsylvania had a year-on-year difference of 44.7%, with revenue increasing from $2.7 million to $4 million last month.
However, Wind Creek Bethlehem had the most significant revenue deduction, with a 25.24% year-on-year revenue decrease from $2.1 million to $1.5 million last month. This was followed by Harrah’s Philadelphia, which reported a 3.5% drop from $9.8 million in December 2023 to $9.5 million. Mohegan Pennsylvania was the final casino operator to announce a revenue decrease, reporting a fall from $1.68 million to $1.66 million, a 1.5% year-on-year decrease.
Sportsbooks failed to impact revenues
Despite the record rise in iGaming figures, the sports betting figures could not replicate the same success in the Keystone State. Pennsylvania sports betting apps in the Pennsylvania sports betting market contributed to a 70% year-on-year drop in taxable revenue from $72.5 million last December to $21.8 million last month.
The December 2024 revenues were also a significant drop from the record figures generated in November 2024, with sportsbooks generating $77.1 million from a sports betting handle of $935.5 million.
