MLB Umpire Pat Hoberg fired for gambling violation

In recent news, MLB announced last week that the Commissioner of Baseball, Robert Manfred, upheld the appeal process regarding umpire Pat Hoberg to terminate his employment.

In June 2024, MLB issued a penalty to Hoberg for a potential violation of its sports betting policies. Since then, it has become known that the former umpire shared sports betting accounts with a professional poker player and friend, who made several bets on the sport.
