Another year without online sports betting
Mississippi has some of the most unique online sports betting regulations in the US, technically allowing online sports betting on the grounds of land-based casinos. However, state-wide online sports betting isn’t available. Lawmakers tried and failed to change this last year with HB 774, so gaming revenues in 2025 once again won’t be helped by online sports betting revenues.
HB 774 proposed 30 online sports betting licenses in Mississippi with a 12% tax rate on these operators. Lawmakers expected the online sports betting revenue to generate $35 million annually. However, HB 774 didn’t pass the legislature before the end of the 2024 regulatory session.
