It's not just the operator of one of our best sportsbooks, it's also a major name in sportswear for fans and professional teams.

And this week, Fanatics Sportsbook released the jerseys that the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks will wear when they square off in the NHL Winter Classic on New Year's Day. It's become a yearly tradition for fans of the "Coolest Game on Ice" - and it certainly can hold true to that moniker.

The NHL Winter Classic in 2022 (which the Blues also played in) holds the record for the coldest NHL game ever played, with temperatures of negative-5.7 degrees at puck drop.

It's the second time the game will be held at Wrigley Field in Chicago, and residents and hockey fans alike will want to take advantage of the Illinois sports betting market. But first, they'll want to make sure they sign up with a Fanatics Sportsbook promo code and check our latest NHL odds.

The jerseys

Fanatics' press release notes the cool features that both of the new jersey designs will feature for the special game.

Chicago's jersey "honors both the team's storied past and the city's broader sporting legacy." It features a lace-neck collar, similar to jerseys of old, a pinstripe design in the game numbers to honor the city's baseball heritage, and has stars in the main chest logo to tie into the Chicago flag.

St. Louis' jersey "pays homage to the city's hockey heritage." It was based on the team's 1966 prototype, which was never worn in game, features the classic music-note on the shoulder, and displays the St. Louis fleur-de-lis inside the back neck.

Adult jerseys will start at $189.99 for blank adult jerseys, with additional costs for lettering. They will be available via team stores in person or online.

Sports betting

While there are plenty of options for Blackhawks fans (at least those residing in-state) to take advantage of via Illinois sports betting apps, things aren't quite there yet for Blues fans in Missouri.

Residents of the Show Me State took to the polls on Election Day to vote for or against Amendment 2, which would see the creation of a legalized Missouri sports betting market. Initial results showed that the vote passed by a narrow margin, prompting the American Gaming Association CEO to release a statement praising the outcome, and the Gaming Commission Chairman was working to bring the industry to the state.

The Blues were vocal proponents of the law changing to allow legal sports betting so that Missouri residents would be able to take advantage of promos the same as Illinois sportsbook promos. The team was joined by numerous other professional sports teams to support the Winning for Missouri Education group, which lobbied in support of legal sports betting in the state and was backed by some of our best sports betting sites.

However, earlier this week we reported the margin for the Amendment to pass had been shrinking as additional votes have been tabulated. The Winning for Missouri Education group remained positive, however, with a spokesman confidently saying “We’re going to win this election when every last vote comes in."

Final state certifications are expected by Dec. 10, 2024, and if the vote passes, it outlines that sports betting in Missouri must be put into effect by Dec. 31, 2025.
