Our best Super Bowl betting sites will certainly be hoping that their handles don't go the way of secondary-market ticket sales.

With just days to go before the 2025 Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, ticket prices have decreased dramatically. They are more than 50% lower than last year's record-high prices.

According to CNN, the least expensive seats are now going for more than $4,000, a 30% drop from last week. These declines are due to various factors, including the size of the venue, the location, and the teams that will be playing.

One main reason for the decrease in ticket prices is the capacity of the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. This venue can hold almost 10,000 more people than Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, where last year's Big Game was held. The higher seating capacity increases the supply in the market, suppressing the prices on the resale market.

Other factors

The host city itself also affects ticket demand. Last year, with its entertainment and tourism attractions, Las Vegas was a big attraction to traveling fans and casual attendees.

New Orleans is a strong football town with plenty of experience hosting significant sporting events, but it doesn't have the pull of Las Vegas for the big-spending visitor looking for a show beyond the game.

Safety concerns may also affect some fans' decision to attend the event. There may be some potential travelers put off making the trip following a New Year's Day truck attack that left several people dead and others injured.

Despite low ticket prices, plenty of money will be bet on the Super Bowl, with many fans placing big bets that we've been tracking with our Super Bowl 2025 biggest bets tracker.

Chiefs fatigue

The Chiefs are back in the championship game for the third year in a row (and the fourth in five years). It's a matter of historical importance that the team may become the first in the Super Bowl era to win three consecutive crowns, but it may also contribute to the low ticket demand.

The Chiefs and the Eagles met in the Super Bowl two years ago. The Chiefs won that game, and the Eagles will look to prevent a repeat this year. However, this has not been enough to influence football fans.

Some may also be experiencing fatigue from repeated appearances by the same franchise, which reduces excitement compared to a matchup featuring fresh contenders. TickPick CEO Brett Goldberg told CNN, “Had the Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders, or Buffalo Bills made it this far, it’d be a much different story as it relates to current prices.”

Although ticket prices are down, advertising revenue for this year's Super Bowl is still high. Fox Media has sold several 30-second commercial spots for more than $8 million each, indicating that advertisers still see value in the event. The Super Bowl is still one of the most watched television broadcasts yearly, so brands will spend a lot of money on commercials.
