NEO.bet Sportsbook Review

You have to hand it to NEO.bet for offering Ontario bettors something a little different.

The German-based sportsbook operator faces an uphill battle in its quest to carve out a slice of the Ontario sports betting pie, but it has shown it isn’t afraid to take chances. From customized cash-out conditions to its proprietary personal bet configurator, NEO.bet players are treated to an experience unlike any other in the province.

Are these features enough to overcome the app’s shortcomings, including a surprising lack of available sports markets? That’s really up to you.

NEO.bet Locations

NEO.bet is available in Ontario under the regulation of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and iGaming Ontario. NEO.bet was founded in Germany and can be found in many countries worldwide under the regulation of the Malta Gaming Authority.

Sports Leagues to Bet On

While most operators offer 25+ sports on which players can wager, NEO.bet comes up short in this regard. The leading North American sports are represented here, but there are significant absences from the secondary sports list, including motorsports, golf, and horse racing.

Sports that NEO.bet offers include soccer, football, tennis, baseball, basketball, hockey, MMA, boxing, rugby, table tennis, cricket, Aussie Rules Football, darts, handball, and volleyball.

Additionally, some of the sports they include have sparse market offerings, leaving bettors with only a handful of betting options per event.

NFL Betting

NEO.bet provides NFL bettors with plenty of opportunities to profit on their favourite teams. Pre-game markets include moneylines, spreads, totals, and quarter- or half-specific markets, while players can also bet on any of NEO.bet’s in-game offerings.

NBA Betting

Basketball betting has grown in popularity, and NEO.bet is here to serve the hoops-happy crowd with moneyline, spread, and total markets. Player and team props are also available here, though larger sportsbook operators have a greater selection of offerings.

College Football

College football betting is seeing increased interest in Canada, and NEO.bet is ready to serve an eager Ontario audience with moneylines, spreads, and totals for most Division I NCAA football games during the season. Look for even more markets during bowl season.

College Basketball

NEO.bet has the bases covered when it comes to NCAA basketball betting, offering standard markets throughout the regular season and conference tournaments. And as with most providers, NEO.bet steps things up a notch before March Madness tips off.

NHL Betting

Hockey bettors will find NEO.bet hits most of the right notes when it comes to daily offerings. Players can wager on moneylines, pucklines, or totals, while the in-game selections are decent. Team and player props are among the most popular live options.

MLB Betting

Summertime means Major League Baseball betting – and NEO.bet comes armed with a decent offering of baseball odds. From moneyline, runline, and total options to player props, inning-specific markets, and alternate totals, players have plenty to choose from here.

Other Sports Leagues

NEO.bet provides a strong base for soccer bettors, offering up a wide variety of wagering markets across many of the top European leagues. Tennis is also a strength of this operator, particularly regarding its selection of live betting opportunities.

Online Betting Experience

NEO.bet is an absolute delight to use, welcoming newcomers to the site or mobile app with a well-designed, easy-to-use interface and lightning-fast response time.

Website Experience

The desktop and mobile web versions provide more real estate to the main betting markets than most designs, opting to run those games from the far left side of the screen while placing the main sports menu as a narrow bar along the top.

This is a great design feature since it allows you to click into a matchup and see the available markets to the right of the main menu rather than be taken off-screen to a separate page. Once you make a selection, your betslip opens up on the far right – giving you simultaneous access to the main sports page, the matchup markets, and your ticket.

Mobile Betting and Betting App

The app doesn’t have nearly the same amount of real estate to work with but still looks good.

Clicking on a matchup opens a temporary slide tab that juts out from the left, giving you easy access to the pre-game or in-game options while allowing for a one-click return to the main screen. Choosing a bet opens your betslip at the bottom of the app; once again, you can access all three pages and return to the main screen with a simple click.

You can either download the app from the App Store or the site directly if you own an Android. There aren’t enough App Store reviews to warrant inclusion here.

Live Betting

NEO.bet advertises that it features more than 9,000 live events monthly during active sports seasons. That’s an awful lot of in-game markets – and bettors have access to each of them, accessible through the “Live” tab at the top right of the screen.

Most live sports present between 3-5 bettable markets on-screen when using the desktop or mobile web version, with the option to find more by clicking on the matchup itself. Again, the use of screen space in these versions is terrific for displaying multiple live markets at once.

The site and app are among Ontario's most responsive and intuitive, enabling players to quickly and easily submit their live bets. Price changes are displayed with giant flashes of green and red, so it’s easy to see which betting lines have moved.

Unfortunately, NEO.bet’s live streaming is limited to esports at the moment.

Casino, Poker, & Other Gaming Options

This app isn't for you if you’re looking for another gambling option besides sports betting.

NEO.bet doesn’t offer casino, table, or poker games to its Ontario customer base. And with nothing gaming-related on the horizon, NEO.bet will remain sportsbook-only for at least the foreseeable future.

NEO.bet History

There isn’t much of a history here. NEO.bet launched in 2018 as one of the first-ever major sportsbook properties to come out of Germany – and it quickly established itself as a go-to sports betting property there before branching out to other countries.

The Greenvest Betting Ltd. property, known for its slogan “from professionals, for professionals,” made its way into Canada shortly after its successful launch. It was popular among grey market players before becoming regulated in Ontario.

Customer Ratings & Reputation

If you’re looking for reasons to try NEO.bet you’ll find a bunch of them here.

Let’s start with the Personal Bet Configurator, which is like a ledger for your wagers. You can fill your betting card with all the bets you’d like to make, and NEO.bet allows you to sort them in whatever fashion you want. You can combine bets, build parlays, select a “banker” bet (referring to the play that has to win for your bets to be successful), and so on.

Another neat option is the customizable cash-out feature. Here, you can establish parameters for when you would like to cash out a wager ahead of time and follow the success of your bet using a NEO.bet-provided chart. You can even establish a loss limit so the bet will cash out once you reach a certain threshold – and it’s all done automatically.

In terms of quality of odds, NEO.bet is mostly competitive with the better options in the market. Aside from 2-3 cents of additional juice on second-tier sports, you’ll find its odds offering quite fair – and that’s a big deal for an operator that might struggle to carve out a meaningful market share in a competitive Ontario market.

To top it all off, NEO.bet has a sensational 4.4 rating on Trustpilot, making it one of the most highly-recommended sportsbook operators on the site. Users universally praised the quality of the site and the prompt customer service, and issues brought to Trustpilot were often dealt with in a matter of days.

Customer Service

If we’re going to ding NEO.bet for anything, it’s the fact that it doesn’t have a dedicated 24-hour customer service option.

The company provides 16 hours of live chat assistance daily, which is decent but still falls short of the industry standard. On the plus side, NEO.bet’s CS representatives are courteous and helpful, regularly guiding players to the answers they’re looking for.

If you miss the live chat time window, you can leave a phone number for an agent callback or reach out via email.

NEO.bet Contact

  • Live chat 16 hours per day.
  • Email: [email protected]
  • Phone: You can request a callback via email, but there is no direct number.

NEO.bet Legal Betting

NEO.bet was one of the first sports betting providers in the world to receive a Germany-wide license from the authorities of the regional council in Darmstadt (Hessia). In addition, NEO.bet is regulated as a remote operator in Canada by the Malta Gaming Authority.

Responsible Gambling

The legal age for gambling in Canada (Ontario excluded) is 18+. Please play responsibly. NEO.bet complies with the rules laid down by the Malta Gaming Authority.

Here are a few resources to help ensure you are gambling responsibly.

  • BeGambleAware.org: offers free, confidential help and support to anyone worried about gambling for themselves or others.
  • Gambling Therapy: a global service provided by Gordon Moody offering free emotional support and advice to anyone affected by gambling.
  • ResponsibleGambling.org: The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) is a respected, independent non-profit organization. They have been a leader in preventing problem gambling in Canada and globally for over 35 years.

NEO.bet Review Conclusion

What you think of NEO.bet really depends on whether you favour a more traditional approach to sports betting apps or are open to trying something new.

We’re big fans of innovations like the customizable cash-out and personalized bet configurators, and the desktop design is among the best in the business. Add in the responsiveness of both the desktop/mobile web options and the app itself, and there’s a lot to like here.

That all said, this app needs more sports markets and banking options. And if you like a little poker with your sports betting, you’re out of luck. Enough is lacking here to rank it in the middle of the pack despite some really cool features.

It would be nice to see NEO.bet embrace a broader range of deposit and withdrawal options, but its current offering will have to do.

Ontario players can deposit via Interac Online, Interac E-Transfer, credit card (Visa or MasterCard), MuchBetter, or the paysafecard. Minimums come in at $10 across all payment forms, while the high-end limit ranges from $500 to $5,000.

Unfortunately, the withdrawal options at NEO.bet come in only two forms: Interac and ExpressConnect. Both options take 1-3 days to process, with minimum limits of $20 and a maximum of $9,999.
